Baseball, Burgers, & Beer are Back

The Clubhouse, Formerly Mudville Pub Available to Rent

NEWPORT, RI- When discussing baseball in Newport and Historic Cardines Field, Mudville Pub is almost always mentioned in the conversation. This old fashion American bar and grille, once owned by former Boston Celtic Kevin Stacom, served up burgers and post-game beers for decades worth of baseball players and fans directly next to the ballpark at 8 W Marlborough St. What made Mudville truly unique was the ability to watch baseball games directly from the pub- within arm’s reach of the right fielder. Unfortunately, 8 W Marlborough has been quiet over these past few summers but the 2022 Season brings an opportunity to watch Newport Gulls from this one-of-a-kind venue.

The Newport Gulls have contracted The Clubhouse from owners Teresa & Joe LoCascio for all 22 New England Collegiate Baseball League home games this summer and have made the space available to rent directly from the Gulls for private events.

Completely renovated and equipped to stream games over The Clubhouse’s state-of-the-art entertainment system, the space operates as a luxury box or corporate suite, like that which you would see at Fenway Park or Major League parks throughout the country. Groups of up 50 can reserve the space directly from the Newport Gulls on game nights and will be able to choose from various food and beverage packages. Options for cash or open bars are available but access is only granted to those renting the venue for the night, not walkup service.

Opening Day is Wednesday, June 8, and games are played on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:35 PM, with dates still available to rent for the season. If interested in learning more about hosting an event with the Newport Gulls, please contact Director of Baseball Operations, Michael Falcone at operations@newportgulls.com or 401-845-7832.

The Newport Gulls, members of the 13-team New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded as the Rhode Island Gulls in 1998 in Cranston, R.I., before moving to Newport in 2001. In addition to recruiting, fielding, and developing a team of the nation’s top collegiate baseball athletes and attracting 50,000 fans annually to Cardines Field, the predominantly volunteer organization strives to benefit the community of Newport County via summer camps, reading programs, fundraisers, scholarships, and charitable donations – totaling over $1 million since 2001. The Gulls are six-time champions of the NECBL – the winningest franchise in league history – and were ranked as the overall No. 1 summer collegiate baseball team in the country by Perfect Game USA in 2012.
